USB Basics: The USB Hub
There are so many USB devices these days (some of which are absolutely useless), owing to the convenience of the modern plug and play technology of USB technology, however, it never hurts to have a lot of ports to accommodate these gadgets and here you’ll need a USB hub.
Especially for laptops, a USB hub can be very useful if you’re plugging in a lot of devices and want to preserve your laptop’s USB ports (as use eventually makes them loose).
For example, you have a Pocket PC, a USB thumb drive, a portable hard disk, a USB fan for your laptop, and USB speakers, you are either one or two ports short, or you’ve used up all the ports and have no other space of any other thingamajig you want to plug in.
